Described by Pope John Paul II
as "a grace directed to sanctify the Church, to renew in her the taste for prayer, to rediscover with the Holy Spirit, the sense of gratuitousness, of joyful praise, of confidence in intercession, and to be converted into a new fountain of evangelization." [22 January 1987]
LIFE IN THE SPIRIT Seminars are composed of a series of talks designed to lead people through the basic message of salvation and help them yield to the action of the Holy Spirit in their lives. The seminars are presented over the course of 7 evenings (one evening a week for 7 weeks). The Seminars are simple, informal and introductory in format, balanced with teaching, personal testimony, Scripture and prayer. Small group discussion periods provide an important opportunity for participants to discuss their progress.
The Seminars are designed to help people yield to the action of the Holy Spirit in their lives so they can begin to sense His presence and experience Him working in and through them; and thereby establish or re-establish, or deepen a personal relationship with Christ Jesus.
Baptism in the Holy Spirit
On the fifth night of the Seminars, there is an opportunity for people to be prayed with to be "baptized in the Holy Spirit (Link) is a "fanning into flame" of the gifts and graces received at baptism and confirmation, a profound personal response to the grace of God's invitation to accept and acknowledge His Son Jesus as Lord and Saviour of our lives
"The Life in the Spirit seminar is a course which has helped many Christians find a fuller expression and commitment in their spiritual lives. It is an introduction to a life lived in the power of the Holy Spirit."
